Another new year

Well, it's January 1st, so that means another year's come and gone. I can't believe 2007 has flown by that quickly. A big change has happened for me in 2007; I graduated from high school and started college. The new year is sure to bring some changes, but to what extent, we don't know.

Back home

Well, I'm back home for a month. I actually came home Thursday afternoon, after I most certainly bombed my Chemistry 111 final exam. But that's OK, since I couldn't fail the class since my semester grade was so high anyway.

Since I actually now have free time away from school, I spent most of the day over at Spencer's place yesterday playing (Xbox) Halo 2 and Portal. I must say, Portal is one of the strangest, and ingenious games around today. After that, we went to the basketball game, and joined (or crashed, depending on who you asked) the pep band.

Then today I went paintballing with Spencer and Ryan (aka Sloth). It was pretty fun, and I enjoyed it (except for my fingers freezing) more than I did the last time I went (over a year ago). I did get to use the nice Tippmann 98 Custom, and not the crappy (IMO) rental guns. We may go again next week, and if so, I'll need to remember gloves.

I'm back... (and scanning for WiFi)

I decided that I would get back into blogging. Nearly six months have gone by since I've said anything here.

On my way back to school yesterday, I decided to get my laptop out and see how many wireless networks I could find. Almost as soon as we got on the main road, three networks popped up, all secured. A few more popped up at different points, and within a matter of minutes, I realized how popular the SSID "linksys" was and how many of those were unsecured. It seems as though all of those were stock Linksys wireless routers with everything set as default. Heck, as I sit here in my dorm typing this, I see an unsecured network named "linksys" (I know who's router this is, too). On my way to school yesterday, I was scanning for networks for about 30 minutes, and I saw "linksys" appear nearly 25 or 30 times. Some other networks had more creative names, and some were business names, and most of those were secured networks. If we weren't sailing down Route 30 as fast through York, I believe I could've attempted to connect to at least one of the unsecured networks and browse the internet.

Missed it!

Well, apparently FedEx decided to attempt to deliver my laptop today. I wake up at about 9:45 AM, boot up my computer, and then go and check the package tracking online and I see this:

Screenshot of FedEx tracking website

I missed the thing by minutes due to my heavy sleeping. Then I go downstairs, and there's a tag stuck to the window next to the door from FedEx saying that they were there, but the package required a signature, and saying that they'd be back on Friday.

Nonetheless, I'll be sure to be up tomorrow extra early to be sure I'm available when they come by!

Welcome back

Well, I'm back I suppose. In a larger sense, I need to welcome myself back to blogging. It's been nearly three months since I bothered to write anything here. Why? To be honest, I lost interest in blogging. Well, in any case, I'm in a mood to blog again.

I'm really hoping that the laptop I ordered arrives tomorrow (Tuesday). It was ordered online last Monday, and anytime before Wednesday falls into the "5 to 7 business" days that HP.com promoted.

I have also fought off two colds in the past week. Last week sometime (I think it was Tuesday) I woke up with a sore throat, which has always been a sure-fire sign that I was getting a cold. I took a cold pill and a Cold-Eeze lozenge, and by that afternoon, I was feeling great. Then yesterday came around. I worked in the afternoon, then I went to a friend's (late) graduation party, which happened to have an outside setting. I was sitting in the grass for a while, and by 9PM or so, I was beginning to feel wheezy, so when I got home, I took a shower and a Benadryl, and I was in bed by about 1AM, which had been the earliest I had gone to bed in months.

I woke up at about 4:30 AM, and I didn't feel well at all. I could feel a sore throat. I again woke up at 7:30, and took another Cold-Eeze and a cold pill. I napped throughout the day, and finally had to go to work at 6PM.

I actually like working evenings more than my usual afternoon timeslot. Tonight it was pretty bust the first two hours, and when I got off my break, I had some work to do clearing the lot, but by 9:30, I was pretty much finished.

Now, It's 1:05 Am, and I'm still feeling some cold-like symptoms, so I'm off to take some medication and get some sleep!

Another lap around the sun

Well today at about 6:18 am, I've made another trip around the sun. It doesn't really feel like my birthday, and I didn't really do anything that special. It started out like a normal day. I got to school, took a quiz in geometry, went swimming in physical education, had lunch, went to physics and still didn't really understand anything, then had study hall and band in fifth period. T=hen I went to work to puck up my paycheck. One thing I noticed is that my name wasn't up on the "birthdays" list on the back white board at Wal-Mart. I know they didn't forget my birthday since they sent me a card in the mail.

For dinner, we went to the new Texas Roadhouse with my grandparents on my dad's side. I got my usual out-to-eat meal (chicken fingers and fries). My grandparents on my mom's side couldn't come since my grandma is in the hospital. She has had some medical problems the past few months, and she had to go to the emergency room last night. We visited her at the hospital after we went out to eat.

On the plus side, we have a three day weekend; no school for Friday, so I might have a few friends over. But the fun will end there. I have to work on Saturday, the spring band concert is Sunday, and on Monday I have to take the AP Government test, which will take up three periods. And on top of that, I have to have a song memorized for band by Tuesday in order to go on the band trip, and I need to do all the homework and quiz corrections in physics that I neglected the past week and a half.

Ugh...
